16 Years After The Last NCAA Basketball Game, EA Sports Is ‘Bringing Back the Madness’

After 16 years, college basketball (CBB) is coming back to EA Sports.

If you’re looking for more details than that, then bad news — EA really isn’t talking as yet — but in a message posted to social media earlier today, the division responsible for EA’s sports games said: “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back.”

The message was appended with two hashtags: “CBB” — an acronym for college basketball — and EA Sports’ customary “It’s in the Game.” Oh, and there was an image of a basketball, too.

If you’re unfamiliar with basketball and EA Sports’ relationship with it, it’s worth noting that this is big news, as it marks the first time EA Sports has taken us into the heart of college basketball since 2009’s NCAA Basketball 10. It follows the similar resurrection of EA Sports’ College Football franchise, which came back to life last July with College Football 25.

As for the other basketball video game, NBA 2K25? We thought the latest iteration was Good, awarding 7/10, writing: “A handful of improvements mean NBA 2K25 has a few tricks up its sleeve to be pleasantly surprised by this year, even as many long-term issues continue.” It’s currently one of the games up for grabs with this month’s PlayStation Plus free games, along with the Alone in the Dark remake, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and Destiny 2: The Final Shape.
