Software firm Sage has expanded its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop AI solutions for the accounting and compliance needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs).

The company said the move will simplify accounting, automate tasks and give SMBs greater financial clarity and confidence.

With the support of AWS over the past year, Sage said it has developed and deployed purpose-built Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs) for accounting and compliance.

It claims these models improve the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of Sage’s AI-powered financial solutions.

Sage said that these new models lay the foundations for advanced agentic capabilities within Sage’s AI powered assistant which will provide more intelligent automation and proactive financial assistance.

Additionally, Sage said it is using AWS technology to improve how SMBs access and interpret financial information. The new Semantic Search API, powered by Amazon Bedrock, enhances the way Sage products retrieve, rank, and generate responses from financial and compliance data, making insights more accessible, relevant, and actionable.

“By combining Sage’s deep accounting expertise with the powerful AI infrastructure of AWS, we are creating technology that is not just intelligent, but also trusted and practical for finance,” said Amaya Souarez, EVP, cloud services & operations at Sage. “These advancements make financial decision-making smarter, more intuitive, and more efficient, helping SMBs reduce time spent on financial admin, gain greater visibility into their finances, and focus on growing their business.”
