The Fantastic Four: First Steps Photo Shows Link to Thunderbolts*/New Avengers Post-Credit Scene, Fans Believe

A new The Fantastic Four: First Steps photo looks to show a moment from late on in the film that ties into the post-credit scene from Thunderbolts*/New Avengers.

The image, published on Instagram by Fandango, features Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards and Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm in futuristic surroundings — and seemingly floating in zero gravity (thanks, Cinema Blend).

Fans have pointed to the fact that both characters are wearing their Fantastic Four-branded spacesuits, something they only acquire after their initial trip to into space where they gain their superpowers. A Fantastic Four logo can also be seen on what appears to be a door, or airlock, in the background.

This image therefore comes from later on in the movie, once the Fantastic Four have been established as heroes. It also appears to come from a scene not shown within trailers so far.

Indeed, the brief looks we have had at The Fantastic Four to date have primarily been all set on Earth, as the team deal with the fact that Reed Richards and Sue Storm are set to become parents, just in time for the skyscraper-sized Galactus to arrive.

Warning! Spoilers for Thunderbolts*/New Avengers follow:

Clearly, the image looks to show the Fantastic Four’s spaceship, and fans have been quick to suggest that this is the same sleek-looking craft we’ve already seen arrive in the main MCU timeline if you stuck around until after the credits of Thunderbolts*/New Avengers.

Could we even be seeing the heroes on that same journey, leaving their dimension to arrive in the main MCU? It’s possible. That post-credit scene was set within the timeline of Avengers: Doomsday — and even filmed by the movie’s directors, the Russo brothers, as part of its production. And fans have long expected the finale of The Fantastic Four: First Steps to set up some link between Richards and his comic book arch-rival Doctor Doom, just in time for Robert Downey Jr. to take on the mantle.

Earlier this week, we got our best look yet at the film’s version of Galactus, as played by Ralph Ineson, via a Snapple promo that leaked the character’s design. That followed a revealing Funko Pop! spoiler for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives on July 25, 2025, while Avengers Doomsday is now less than a year away — it launches on May 1, 2026.
