Stop everything — there’s a new Devil May Cry: The Animated Series teaser.

It’s only a minute long, but it gives a tantalizing peek at what’s to come in Season 2 when it premiers sometime next year… and yes, “2026” is as close as we get to a release date. Sorry.

“Dante vs. Vergil. Brother vs. brother. Devil May Cry: Season 2 premieres 2026, only on Netflix,” teases a post on the official Devil May Cry X/Twitter account, before showing exactly what it means by a brother vs. brother showdown, picking up from when we were introduced to Vergil right at the end of Season 1. You can check it out below:

This animated series adaptation of Capcom’s popular video game franchise, Devil May Cry, was brought to life by none other than Castlevania executive producer, Adi Shankar, and follows the complicated relationship between brothers Dante and Vergil. Shankar has also recently confirmed he’s turning his attention to the Duke Nukem series after acquiring the screen rights from Gearbox Software.

“Season 2 is a vvvvveryyyyy different show. Yes, Dante levels up,” Shankar recently said. “His skills improve and you’ll see him embrace more of the iconic badassery fans of the game expect. That said, I’m still telling a story, and great characters don’t just win — they grow. What makes Dante compelling isn’t that he’s unstoppable — it’s that he learns and keeps getting stronger.”

We gave Season 1 of Devil May Cry an 8/10 in our review, writing: “Devil May Cry is a fun, if predictable, video game adaptation that boasts one of the best animated episodes of the year so far.”

Castlevania Season 1 — another of Shankar’s projects — similarly secured an 8.1/10 from us upon its release in 2017. Shankar is involved in other Netflix projects, too, including the Castlevania: Nocturne spinoff series, an Assassin’s Creed series, and even an animated PUBG show.
