Xbox Insiders On Cheaper Game Pass Tiers Can Now Stream More Cloud Games And Access PC Versions of (Some of) the Games They Own

From today (August 29), Xbox Insiders are invited to try “new updates in Xbox Game Pass that make it easier to stream and play across more devices.”

Xbox Insiders — that is, players signed up to try upcoming features on Xbox in beta testing before they’re formally rolled out, on the understanding they may be a bit buggy or broken — can now try Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta if they’re subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Core or Standard.

This means that for the first time, subscribers to Microsoft’s more affordable tiers will have access to PC versions of selected titles, “giving you more flexibility and the choice to play on a PC or Windows handheld.” You can also stream cloud playable games included in your subscription — as well as select ones you own, of course — “making it easier to jump in from any supported device.”

“Xbox Insiders subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Core or Standard now have even more freedom to play wherever they are with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta),” Microsoft said. “As part of this Insider experience, Xbox Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers will be able to stream cloud playable games included with their subscription or select cloud playable games they own, making it easier to jump in from any supported device.”

“We’re always exploring more ways to make your Xbox experience centered around you – your content, benefits, and playstyle,” Microsoft said. “That’s why we’re making it easier to enjoy the games you love, wherever you are, and on any device. Starting today, Xbox Insiders are invited to try out new updates in Xbox Game Pass that make it easier to stream and play across more devices.”

Xbox Game Pass is an online gaming service for Xbox and PC game platforms where subscribers can stream directly on smart devices and consoles, play new games on day one, depending upon their subscription tier, and access a catalog of hundreds of high-quality games with friends on console, PC, or cloud. Back in May, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members gained a new perk: the ability to stream some games directly to their consoles, no download necessary.
