The Moto G Power 5G Is Down to Just $200 Right Now

Motorola’s Moto G smartphones have long been one of the best values in the smartphone market. Uber cheap, they still have tons of features and capabilities, and this year’s Moto G Power 5G is a great example. For just $200 ($100 off), thanks to Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale event, you get a stylish, pretty Android phone with features you no longer find on flagship phones, like a headphone jack.

Moto G Power (2025)

Am I bummed that the Moto G Stylus 5G 2025 isn’t on sale? Yes, yes, I am. That phone has better performance and adds a stylus for good measure. But the Moto G Power 2025 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is still a good buy, especially for a mere $200. It has this lovely green vegan leather texture on the back that elevates its looks, paired with a large 6.8-inch 120-Hz screen.

Looks aside, there are three main reasons to buy this phone. First, it has a headphone jack. If you prefer plugging your headphones in, whether you’re riding a trend or swear by audio fidelity, you’ll appreciate the jack. Second, there’s a microSD card slot. That means you can expand the built-in 128 GB up to 1 terabyte if you need the space. These two features are all but gone on midrange and high-end smartphones today, making the Moto G Power extra special.

The third reason isn’t necessarily a must-have but a convenience: wireless charging. It’s rare to find wireless charging in sub-$400 smartphones, so it’s nice to be able to plop the phone on a wireless charger instead of fishing for a USB-C cable.

The 5,000-mAh battery here can stretch to two days with average use, and the dual-camera system can take some decent shots. Performance isn’t particularly impressive. It’ll be able to handle the usual apps and lightweight mobile games, but you will see some stutters here and there, and app launches may take an extra beat. It’s not frustratingly slow, just noticeable.

The other thing to know is that this phone will only receive one more Android operating system update to Android 17 (it’s currently getting Android 16), though it will get security updates for a little more than two years. This isn’t a phone that will last years and years. But if you need a phone now and your budget is tight (or you just need a second burner phone), it’s hard to go wrong here.
