Dead or Alive 7 is in development, and Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is on the way, too.
Koei Tecmo Games series producer Yosuka Hayashi appeared during the February 2026 State of Play presentation to give fans two major updates on Team Ninja’s classic fighting game franchise. First up was the reveal that Dead or Alive 6 is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S June 25, 2026, with new features, characters, and costumes.
Hayashi says Last Round builds on the original 2019 title by bringing back previously released DLC characters with upgrades for modern platforms, with just one of the features highlighted during the State of Play being an improved photo mode. Additionally, a free-to-play option for Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will be available at launch, with newcomers encouraged to try this version out first.
As revealed in a follow-up PlayStation.Blog post, of the base game’s 29 playable characters, the free edition includes four characters to fight with: Kasumi, NiCO, Marie Rose, and Honoka. Free-to-play players can also play against others online, including those with the full game.
The big surprise, though, was a first look at the studio’s plans to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary: Dead or Alive 7. First footage of the currently untitled PS5 game was shown during the presentation and includes a look at Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa. It’s unclear when it will launch.
While we wait for updates, you can check out everything announced during the February 2026 State of Play. You can also familiarize yourself with the original Dead or Alive 6 with our 7.7/10 review.
