Disney has confirmed its live-action Tangled remake now has a 2028 release date.
The latest in its long line of real-life reimaginings was scheduled to premiere March 31, 2028, during the company’s D23 2026 presentation today. The announcement came with a first look at the film from the cast, which includes Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel.
The update for Disney’s movie calendar won’t see the film swing in for another year and a half. Other details for how it will change from the 2010 original Tangled remain to be revealed.

Disney has been building toward the release of its Tangled remake for quite some time. However, it wasn’t until the success of its live-action Lilo & Stitch movie that the ball really got rolling.
Croft and Manheim boarding as its stars this past January. Following months of fan-casts, the same month also brought the reveal that Kathryn Hahn was in talks to play the villainous Mother Gothel, with her role in the film confirmed in March.
D23 attendees got a first official look at the Tangled cast in costume tonight, but it wasn’t the first time fans have seen footage from Disney’s shoot in Spain. Last month, behind-the-scenes shots of live-action Rapunzel and Flynn Rider started to leak out onto the internet. Some images also revealed sneak peeks at Patrick and Hugo McPherson as the remake’s take on the Stabbington brothers.
Tangled is now set to come down from its tower March 31, 2028. There’s still some time to go before that happens, though, giving Disney lots of time to prepare for a premiere that will hopefully fare better than its live-action Moana outing.
