Robert Pattinson Says The Batman Part 2’s Fight Scenes Are ‘Significantly Harder’ to Perform

Robert Pattinson Says The Batman Part 2’s Fight Scenes Are ‘Significantly Harder’ to Perform

Robert Pattinson says his age is making it harder to perform the fight scenes in The Batman Part 2.

The actor spoke with GQ ahead of the release of his new movie, Primetime, and naturally was asked about returning to the role of Batman. Pattinson noted that although the experience has been good and he’s excited about the film, he’s having a ‘significantly harder’ time with the fight scenes due to the large gap between movies.

“I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot,” said Pattinson. “I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’ But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon.”

Pattinson was cast as Batman in 2019, when he was 33 years old. He shot the film throughout 2020 and 2021, meaning it’s been roughly five years since he last put on the cape and cowl. Ironically, part of the conceit of Pattinson’s take on Batman was that he’d be a younger and more inexperienced version of the reluctant hero. However, the long wait for a sequel means Pattinson is older than Christian Bale was in The Dark Knight Rises and just three years younger than Ben Affleck was in Batman v Superman. Those two takes on the character were meant to be older and more broken down versions of the character.

It has been a long journey to get cameras rolling on The Batman Part 2, but things finally came together earlier this summer. The film will boast an incredibly impressive cast with the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Brian Tyree Henry all being tapped for a variety of roles, though they’re largely being kept under wraps. A variety of set photos and videos have been popping up on social media for the last few months, showing intense action scenes in a snow-covered Gotham City.

The Batman Part 2 has had a variety of release dates over the years and was originally meant to release in October 2027 when production began. Unfortunately, the team behind the film opted to push it to a February 2028 release, so it will be a while before we see the Caped Crusader back on the big screen.
