Ben Affleck has revealed he plays shooters like Fortnite and sometimes ends up getting into arguments with kids in voice chat.
When speaking on the New Heights podcast, Affleck was asked about the inspiration for some of the costumes in his latest film, Animals. The new Netflix thriller features a character wearing a fuzzy bunny mask, and Affleck stated that he took inspiration from Fortnite for that particular costume. He noted that his son was taking an interest in Fortnite skins and kept calling them “tough.” Affleck joked that he didn’t quite understand what was “tough” about a character wearing a bunny mask, but utilized it as an inspiration.
“I thought these costumes are so kind of random and unusual, that’s what I based the costumes on,” said Affleck. “I thought he’d be getting them off games.”
The actor also noted that he plays quite a few games himself, including sports titles like Madden and 2K, as well as shooters. Affleck joked that because of his gaming experience, he believes he’s good at shooters, but realizes he’s not as capable as younger players.
“I always play games,” he said. “I play first person shooter games, so I think I’m good, and then 12-year-olds just f**k you up. I try to come out and I’m like, ‘Here I come.’ I get killed right away, and then they taunt you, like, ‘You suck. F**k you!’ I end up getting in arguments. ‘F**k you! I don’t suck! I’m a grown man!’”
Affleck has been vocal about his love for gaming before, particularly Valorant. The actor has attended multiple Valorant events with his son, noting in the past that he mains KAY/0 in the game. He also joined the Valorant e-Sports team Sentinels for a watch party last year, where he talked about his experience with the game on stream.
