Black Myth: Wukong Developer Game Science Announces Sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui

Black Myth: Wukong developer GameScience has revealed a sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, at Opening Night Live 2025.

On-stage at gamescom, host Geoff Keighley described Zhong Kui as “the ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and earth.” Despite Zhong Kui’s announcement, Keighley insisted Black Myth: Wukong won’t end here, suggesting DLC is still on the way.

“Set against the backdrop of the classic Chinese folktale ‘Zhong Kui Banishing Evil,’ Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a single-player action role-playing game rooted in ancient Chinese fantasy,” GameScience said. “The game will deliver distinctive experiences and gameplay features that push our limits, while also bringing fresh ideas and necessary changes to address past flaws and regrets.”

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is currently in early development, and there’s no release date as of yet. The teaser trailer is below:

Here’s the official blurb from GameScience:

New Black Myth title — officially unveiled today!

No ghosts walked the earth till born of human heart;

Onstage and off, immortals fall to fiends—their perfected art.

Indoors and out, the judge is bound by the same household ties;

The sun is veiled, the moon unmoved — who decrees who lives and who dies?

I turn from worldly tangles and their codes, from glories smeared with sleight.

I raise my sword — I raise it to fight;

With it, I shall judge wrong and right!

Developed by GameScience, “Black Myth: Zhong Kui” — the second entry in the Black Myth series — was officially unveiled today with its first CG teaser trailer, and simultaneously debuted during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025.

This single-player action role-playing game draws its primary creative inspiration from the famed Chinese folk figure “Zhong Kui.” As the project is still in early development, no in-game footage is available at this time.

Black Myth: Wukong is the record-breaking action game that launched across PC and PlayStation 5 last year, selling 10 million copies in just three days. The Xbox Series X and S version launches August 20, 2025.
