Brian Cox, the first actor to ever play Hannibal Lecter on screen, will play another serial killer in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection.
Cox will reportedly portray Dom Framt, aka The New York Ripper, according to Variety:
“The character was originally introduced in Season 1, though he was not seen onscreen. He is described as ‘a serial killer who terrorized the City years ago. Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live into his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree.’”
The Succession star and McDonald’s pitchman played “Hannibal Lektor” in director Michael Mann’s 1986 film Manhunter, based on Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon. (The movie was later remade as Red Dragon with Anthony Hopkins reprising his Oscar-winning role as Hannibal.)
Brian Cox’s many film credits include X2, Troy, the Jason Bourne movies, Trick ‘r Treat, Braveheart, Super Troopers, Zodiac, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
Dexter: Resurrection was renewed last year by Paramount+ at the same time as the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin was canceled, a move that did not go over well with the latter’s showrunner Clyde Phillips.
Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will see Michael C. Hall return to play the killer of killers, Dexter Morgan.
