Comixology’s Epic Scavenger Hunt Event Returns at NYCC 2025

Comixology took a very novel approach to San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, giving attendees the chance to participate in an exclusive scavenger hunt that involved prizes like free comics and a Kindle Colorsoft device. Now they’re bringing that promotion to New York Comic-Con, as the Comixology x Kindle Colorsoft Scavenger Hunt returns.

As before, the event is being hosted at the Comixology booth (#4454). Fans will be tasked with hunting down hidden QR codes at the booths of various participating publishers and creators. These codes unlock free comics, discount codes, and the chance to win the aforementioned Kindle Colorsoft.

Participating publishers include Abrams ComicArts, AWA, DC Comics, IDW, Mad Cave Studios, Oni Press, Scholastic, Vault Comics, YEN Press, and Zenescope. Participating Comixology Originals creators include Alex Segura, Erica Schultz, Frank J. Barbiere, Jamal Igle, Jock, Kim-Joy, and Scott Snyder.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Kindle for NYCC 2025, especially after their hot off the press announcement about the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft that, with its 11-inch color display, is going to be huge for digital comics reading,” said Jeff DiBartolomeo, GM and CTO of Comixology, in a statement. “Following the success of the Comixology x Kindle Colorsoft Scavenger Hunt at SDCC earlier this year, we’re excited to bring it to NYCC! We invite attendees to join us and our many publishing partners in this celebration of comics, reading, and of the massive, diverse library of comics – from classics to today’s newest releases – available through more than 150 publishers on Comixology and Kindle.”

DiBartolomeo continued, “Make the Comixology x Kindle Colorsoft booth your first stop on the scavenger hunt. While you’re there, give the ‘gumball’ machine a spin to collect a capsule with an exclusive pin, a QR code to scan for a free digital comic, along with a chance to instantly win a Kindle Colorsoft!”

As DiBartolomeo mentions, the popular gumball machine will also be returning to the Kindle booth. The amchine allows fans to insert tokens and receive capsules containing exclusive enamel pins or QR codes for the scavenger hunt. There will also be Kindle demo stations, signings, and giveaways at the booth throughout the show.

Comixology will also be hosting two panels at NYCC. The first is “Comixology Presents: Lights, Camera…Comix!,” which features panelists like Thomas Jane, Marc Guggenheim, Marc Bernardin, and Pornsak Pichetshote. That panel will be held on Thursday, October 9 from 2:30-3:30pm ET in 406.3. The second is “Comixology x Kindle Colorsoft Present: The Art of Color” with panelists like Kim-Joy and Lee Loughridge. That panel wil be held on Friday, October 10 from 6:45-7:45pm ET in Room 1C03.

NYCC 2025 runs from Thursday, October 9 through Sunday, October 12. Stay tuned to IGN for plenty more coverage from the show.
