Comms Council UK (CCUK) has announced the election of Tracey Wright as the telecoms association’s new chair.
Wright, who currently holds the role of managing director at telecoms company Magrathea, previously led CCUK’s Industry Developments Working Group and co-founded the Women in Telecoms group, which has 188 members.
She takes over the voluntary chair role from Eli Katz, who has stepped down after 20 years of service.
Katz’s tenure began with the establishment of CCUK (then known as ITSPA) in 2005. He has overseen the association’s significant growth from a founding group of 12 members to its current community of 100 companies.
“I am incredibly proud of all that CCUK has accomplished over the last 20 years, and I look forward to supporting the association to the best of my ability going forward,” said Eli Katz, former chair and lifetime president of CCUK. “Alongside the Council, I am delighted that Tracey Wright has been appointed as CCUK’s new Chair.
“Her multifaceted skillset, with a strong industry perspective, effective multi-stakeholder engagement, and political nuance, will stand us in good stead to grow the association and continue acting as the beating heart of the UK telecoms industry.”
Wright, who has also been involved with CCUK since its formation, said that the organisation has “a lot more to come” this year.
“Alongside some celebrations and reminiscing, I will ensure that CCUK remains a leading voice in the sector as the UK moves to all-IP communications and remain laser-focused on key issues for our sector, including fraud, the upcoming Fixed Voice Telecoms Market Review and continuing to champion women in telecoms,” she continued.
