Bungie confirms a recently discovered issue with XP gain impacting Destiny 2 players and offers a temporary solution until a permanent fix can be applied. While The Final Shape has been largely praised by the Destiny 2 community, thanks to a strong campaign, popular weapons, and plenty of additional content, the experience hasn’t always been perfect as bugs have occassionally gotten in the way.

One of the biggest issues that impacted players was a bug that prevented Destiny 2 players from earning the Khvostov 7G-0X exotic auto rifle after one of the motes needed was seemingly impossible to collect. Thankfully, Bungie was able to correct the issue which helped propel the Khvostov into becoming one of the most popular guns in the game. Outside of that, players have found other problems as well, like the No Hesitation auto rifle being unable to break Barrier Champion shields or the Hazardous Propulsion Titan exotic not granting the full damage buff if the Radiant status is active. Bungie has also acknowledged another major issue, which is slowing down the rate of XP being earned.

Destiny 2 Fans Have One Big Issue With The Strike Playlist

Destiny 2 players discover some recent unwelcomed changes to the Vanguard Strike playlist, prompting fans to request changes from Bungie.

In a new post on social media, Bungie has revealed that XP earn rates are slower than expected, which was backed up by recent community reports and observed data from the game. Bungie is investigating the issue and currently doesn’t have a specific date for a permanent fix, but has offered a temporary bonus for all players. The admission gave many veteran players a flashback to another XP throttling issue that happened at the launch of Destiny 2. Community backlash ultimately pushed Bungie to remove the XP cooldown, though in this case, it appears the issue is completely accidental.

How Bungie is Countering the Destiny 2 XP Bug

As revealed in the social media post, the recent Update 8.0.0.6 for Destiny 2 made a change that increases the total Weekly Rest bonus by 150K XP above the normal 250K XP base rate. With every weekly reset, players gain a special Rest Bonus which gives increased XP gain for the first three levels, to help accelerate progression through things like the Battle Pass. With this change, players will be seeing an even bigger increase to the bonus XP every week until a permanent solution can be implemented.

While the community was happy for an update, the focus of many turned back to a frustrating reputation gain issue that is having a major impact on Warlock players. In recent weeks, Destiny 2 players have noticed that Warlocks are getting less reputation gains than Hunters and Titans, which have been made even more apparent during bonus weeks. Thankfully, the issue is now on Bungie’s radar as the problem is listed on its official Known Issues list, though there isn’t a target date yet for a potential fix.
