Disney invited IGN to the Float Out of the Disney Destiny, which is the huge milestone where the ship leaves its dry dock at Papenburg, Germany’s Meyer Werft shipyard and gets ready to make the voyage across the sea to its home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.

While we’ll have much more to share about our Disney Destiny Float Out adventure very soon, we wanted to share some brand-new looks from the event that united people from Papenburg and beyond who all came to witness this special moment.

Construction on the Disney Destiny began in 2023, and yesterday marked one of the biggest steps towards its Maiden Voyage on November 20, 2025.

There was obviously some Disney Magic involved in the process as there were pyrotechnics and fireworks, and even Hero Minnie stopped by in her new outfit to celebrate with us. It was a very special occasion not only for us in attendance and the general public, but for the thousands of employees who gave so much of themselves to bring this ship to life.

For those unfamiliar, the Disney Destiny will be the third ship in Disney Cruise Line’s Wish-class, and it follows both 2022’s Disney Wish and 2024’s Disney Treasure. There will be another Wish-class vessel in 2027, and we were in attendance as it had its Steel Cutting ceremony, which marks the beginning of construction.

Guest aboard the Disney Destiny will be able to look forward to Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, Worlds of Marvel, The Incredibles-themed Edna A La Mode Sweets, a Broadway-style Hercules show, De Vil’s Piano Bar, The Haunted Mansion Parlor, the Pirates of the Carribean-themed Cask & Cannon, the Doctor Strange-inspired The Sanctum, and so much more.

We’ll have much more to share about the Disney Destiny, including a full review ahead of its Maiden Voyage, but for now be sure to check out everything we know about the ship and our thoughts on the Disney Treasure.
