Square Enix revealed Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined with the promise of a February 5, 2026, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 release date during today’s September 2025 Nintendo Direct.
The remake of Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past showed up during today’s hour-long presentation with a trailer showing off a mix of gameplay and cinematic footage. It’s a video that promises a completely fresh, diorama-like art style for the JRPG classic with a release date that is only a few months away.
“Rediscover a tale of plucky companions brimming with joy and heartbreak as you discover the truth behind why your kingdom is the only remaining island in the world,” an official description says. “The game features a new art style that blends diorama visuals with Akira Toriyama’s iconic character designs, as well as a streamlined main story, Moonlighting system that allows two vocations to be equipped at once, and more.”
Pre-orders will be available on the My Nintendo Store website and on the Nintendo eShop later today. Those who pre-order their copy of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined will receive a new costume for the Hero. Nintendo says pre-order bonuses also include “helpful items for the journey ahead,” but details on these extra goodies are currently unclear.
