Capcom tweeted a piece of artwork to celebrate Dragon’s Dogma 2’s second anniversary. Nothing unusual about that in itself, but fans were quick to notice details in the picture which may hint at a possible expansion.

The artwork shows Dragon’s Dogma 2 characters including Brant and Sven partying it up underneath a “2nd anniversary” banner. However, sharp-eyed fans quickly homed in on two key details: a letter in the foreground and a mysterious character in the background, as summarized by user PaiDuck on Reddit.
The letter is written in the in-game Gransys alphabet. Decoding this reveals that the letter says: “Sightings of Griffins Flying in From the Northern Region of Organ Have Been Confirmed.”
Although mentioned in in-game text, the Northern Region is not currently visitable in Dragon’s Dogma 2, sparking rumors that the letter could be hinting at a possible DLC expansion set in this region, specifically in a place called Organ. Load game text in Dragon’s Dogma 2 describes the north of the continent as “home to an ancient nation” but “records of its existence are scarce” and there has been “no contact with its people for over a century.” Then there’s the in-game description of the Hyperboreal Lorica armor, which mentions Hyperboreans, a bow-wielding people from the north, however they do not make an appearance in the game.
In the artwork, there is also a character with their back turned. They do not seem to be any of the characters featured in the game. Some fans speculated that this could be a new Beastren character, or a Vocation (Dragon Dogma 2’s job system) from a possible expansion. One Japanese-speaking commentator drew some fan art, musing that it might be a new alchemist or monk-style Vocation. The mysterious new character is also standing near a couple of Vocations Maisters, further suggesting that your Arisen or Pawn might be able to master a new class.
The character also seems to be wearing warm clothing, which would not be very suitable for Dragon Dogma 2’s main setting of Vermund, nor the heat of Battahl. This further suggests that fans might get some kind of expansion featuring a colder, northern region not found in the base game.
For now, we’ll have to wait to see if Capcom really does have a Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC up its sleeve. Could an announcement be set for this week’s Xbox Partner Preview showcase?
