eBay has rolled out “Magic Listing”, a new AI-powered tool designed to help sellers create and manage their product listings more quickly and efficiently on mobile devices.

Currently available n the UK, US and Germany, the feature aims to streamline experiences to make listing creation faster and more efficient for sellers.

The “Magical Listing” technology aims to improve the ease, speed and quality of product listing creation by using AI to help fill in item specifics when a seller takes or uploads a product image.

The process of listing an item on eBay involves several steps for sellers, including finding a title that can accurately present the item, selecting the right category to reach a specific audience, and providing a detailed description of the item.

eBay said the new technology also features a “guided, optimised mobile listing flow” that requires only a photo and title to list an item on a mobile device. The previous process began with a text search for similar listings within eBay’s catalogue that sellers could modify and customise.

Currently available in the eBay mobile app in the US, UK and Germany for private sellers across all categories, the simplified listing tool also leverages AI to maximise image match, suggesting product details and suitable categories for the product, aiming to enable sellers to review and approve content listing more quickly.

Ebay said that testing led in the UK showed that the tool led to a 50 per cent reduction in the total steps needed to list items

The company added it will continue to improve the accuracy of item specifics throughout the year via integration of new updates.

Other AI features recently implemented by eBay include the ‘magical’ AI bulk listing tool, capable of processing hundreds of photos per batch and creating multiple listing drafts simultaneously, available to sellers using Seller Hub in the US, UK and Germany.

eBay also offers AI-powered advertising tools to help sellers optimise their campaigns and the effectiveness of their ads.

According to eBay, more than 10 million sellers worldwide have already used its new AI features, creating over 100 million listings using AI and generating billions of gross merchandise volume (GMV).

Last year, the retailer announced a range of new tech services to improve item sales on its platform, including a ‘click-to-resell’ feature which let sellers list their clothing on the platform in just a “couple of clicks of a button” and an interactive livestream shopping service in the UK.
