Getting the Map Fragments in the Shadow Lands of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is not nearly as easy as gathering the Map Fragments in the Lands Between (which makes sense, considering the difficulty of said DLC). It’s obvious the FromSoftware is sort of intended to keep you mostly in the dark as far as your map is concerned the first time you go through the main section of each area.

Elden Ring: Best Builds To Solo Malenia, Blade Of Miquella

Malenia is one of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring, and soloing is a heroic accomplishment. Here’s which builds are best suited just for that.

In fact, there are many areas of the DLC where you can clear out all the locations & bosses and still stumble across the Map Fragment for said area. The Rauh Ruins Map Fragment is a perfect example of this, as it’s found in a place that you likely wouldn’t expect. So, to save you some frustration, let’s go over exactly where this Map Fragment can be found in Elden Ring.

The Rauh Ancient Ruins Area

Why This Map Fragment is So Difficult to Find

The Rauh Ruins Map Fragment might be one of the most frustrating ones to obtain in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, not because it’s all that difficult to reach, but because the location where you find it might as well be in an entirely separate zone. The majority of the Rauh Ruins takes place in these ancient ruins (hence the name) that are pretty high up in the air compared, and you’re constantly avoiding falling to your death or figuring out how to get down to the next area.

So, one would naturally assume that the Rauh Ruins Map Fragment would be somewhere among these ruins right? Wrong. Instead, you actually reach the Rauh Ruins Map Fragment in a pretty roundabout fashion.

How To Reach The Rauh Ruins Map Fragment

Through a Cave, a Swamp, & Some Golems

You’ll first want to head from the Moorth Ruins directly north to the small lake marked on the map a short distance away. At the back of this pond/lake is a cave entrance you can head through, filled with Perfumers and Miranda Flowers. You can either clear out this area while you move forward, grabbing the items along the way, or you can just simply run past all these enemies since they can’t chase you all that well. Once you’re through this small cavern, just keep heading north through the swamp with the occasional mini Deathbird here and there and you should come across the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace in the middle of a clearing.

After grabbing this Grace, keep heading northwest (more north than west) and you should see a Greatbow Golem taking aim at you. Run towards it, avoiding any incoming absurdly gigantic arrows along the way, and run past (or kill) the Golem once you reach it. Once you’re past these Golems, the Monolith with the Map Fragment should be in sight in front of you, so just run over to it, grab it, and the entire Rauh Ruins section of the Shadow Lands will now be visible on your map.
