Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel poked fun at co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson while presenting an award at the 2025 Golden Globes last night.
ComicBook spotted myriad fans enjoying the comment made at Johnson’s expense, seemingly as a continuation of or reference to the pair’s infamous feud while filming the fifth through seventh Fast and Furious films.
Diesel’s comment wasn’t particularly malicious, however. Ahead of presenting the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, Diesel spotted Johnson in the crowd of celebrities and uttered a subtle “Hey, Dwayne” into the mic. A smattering of laughter arose in the crowd and the camera cut to Johnson who smiled wryly.

Despite starring alongside each other in Fast 5, Furious 6, and Fast and Furious 7, with Diesel playing Dominic Toretto and Johnson playing Luke Hobbs, a feud arose between the two and was made public when Johnson called Diesel a “chicken s**t” and “candy-ass” co-star.
Diesel told Men’s Health this was because of the “tough love” he gave Johnson, “to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be.”
Hobbs will seemingly return in the upcoming Fast X: Part 2, a sequel to the 10th mainline film due for release in 2026, after a post-credits tease. Johnson posted on X/Twitter in 2023 that he and Diesel “put all the past behind us,” and will “lead with brotherhood and resolve.” They “always take care of the franchise, characters, and fans that we love,” he said.
The Golden Globes comment could therefore just be a bit of fun between the two, but fans of the car racing turned superhero heist franchise have enjoyed it nonetheless. “That ‘hey Dwayne’ from Vin Diesel was so loaded,” X/Twitter user @xtofer_robn said. “This is the type of petty I live for.”
“Dwayne Johnson is one instant away from going up on stage and killing Vin Diesel live on air,” @bbozuteru added. “I’m surprised he didn’t roll onto the stage in a Charger,” said ersteliga on Reddit.
The franchise was perhaps best reviewed when Johnson played a larger role, with the latest release proving particularly gruelling to many fans. “An underwhelming lead-up to the series finale, Fast X’s only real redeeming quality is Jason Momoa’s bonkers performance as the villain,” IGN said in our 5/10 review.
