Directed by David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter, American Hustle), Madden is the story of John Madden’s journey from Super Bowl-winning coach of the Raiders to his pioneering work during the creation of EA’s Madden NFL series and his emergence as a sports broadcasting icon.

Written by David O. Russell, based on an earlier script by Cambron Clark, Madden also features John Mulaney as Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as John’s wife Virginia Madden, and Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, the wife of Raiders owner Al Davis.

No release date for the film has been revealed at this stage, but it is currently in production in Atlanta. The film was first revealed to be in the works back in mid-2023.

The long-running Madden series, which first debuted in 1988 as John Madden Football on the Apple II, has gone on to become one of the most successful video game franchises of all time.
