Jaz Sinclair, who played Marie Moreau in The Boys spinoff Gen V, has reacted to the show’s cancelation with a brief social media statement.
Last week, Amazon confirmed that Gen V will not return for a third season. The spinoff is set at the Godolkin University, where young supes work with and against each other in the hopes of being drafted into a superhero team.
Sinclair’s character, Marie Moreau, is one of the standouts at Godolkin University, and potentially one of the most powerful supes in The Boys universe. Marie can control and weaponize blood, which potentially makes her more powerful than supervillain Homelander. Indeed, some fans had wondered if Marie would end up drafted into The Boys fifth and final season to finally put an end to Homelander’s tyranny, but showrunner Eric Kripke cast doubt on the theory after saying she had yet to master her powers.
In a post on Instagram, Sinclair teased that she will have plenty to say about Gen V’s cancelation in the future, but for now she wanted to thank the fans.
“There’s so much I wanna (and will) say, but for today I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she said. “I’m so happy you’re here and I’m so grateful for this incredible experience.”
The question now is, when and where will Marie Moreau pop up in a future episode of The Boys Season 5 (there aren’t many left)? When Gen V was canceled, Kripke teased that we hadn’t seen the last of its supes. “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” said executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. “You’ll see them again.”
With The Boys ending soon, Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico remain in active development. Vought Rising, due out in 2027, is a prequel series starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Mason Dye as Bombsight, Will Hochman as Torpedo, and Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel. Aya Cash is also set to star alongside Ackles by returning as Season 2’s Nazi supervillain, Stormfront. With its 1950s setting, Vought Rising seems an unlikely place to feature the Gen V supes. Could they appear in The Boys: Mexico? Or perhaps there are unannounced The Boys spinoffs in the works.
In the shorter term, The Boys Season 5, Episode 5 will feature a supervillain previously unseen in the show.
