George Clooney Confirms Ocean’s 14 Is Happening and Will Probably Shoot in ‘About 9 or 10 Months’

It’s happening, and by “it,” we mean Ocean’s 14, the highly anticipated sequel film to the iconic remake caper Ocean’s 11. Star George Clooney recently confirmed that the movie has been greenlit and will most likely start to film at some point next year — with the big names from the 2001 original set to reprise their roles.

“We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to set up,” Clooney told E! News at a New York Film Festival screening. “It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting.”

Clooney also noted how excited he is to reunite with the stars of the original cast for the new film, which will be directed by David Leitch. “Yeah, Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon] and Don [Cheadle] and Julia [Roberts],” he gushed to the outlet. “I had dinner last night with Julia. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.”

This is far from the first time the actor-director has opened up about what’s next for the Ocean’s franchise. “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s’ now, so we may end up doing another one,” he told Uproxx back in 2023 during an interview for his film The Boys in the Boat. “It’s actually a great script.”

He was, though, tight-lipped during the chat about whether or not the aforementioned script would be specifically for Ocean’s 14. “Well… I don’t want to call it that,” Clooney said at the time. “I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.’”

The Hollywood icon was referring to the 1979 heist comedy by Martin Brest, which starred George Burns, Charles Hallahan, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg. The movie follows three older gentlemen who band together to perform a heist, and was remade in 2017 by Scrubs star and Garden State director Zach Braff.

That said, this newly greenlit installment is a completely different project from the previously announced prequel film, which is set to star Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. That film, which is supposed to be set in Europe in the ’60s, has Jay Roach attached to direct and Carrie Solomon to write, but not much more has been made public just yet.
