‘Get Away From Him You B***’: Star Wars’ Baby Yoda Attended the Oscars, and Featured in a Bizarre Sigourney Weaver Alien Skit

Star Wars’ adorable Baby Yoda attended last night’s Academy Awards, where he took part in an odd skit with fellow The Mandalorian & Grogu stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver.

Grogu was revealed to be sitting in the Oscars audience while Pascal and Weaver were on stage to present the Best Production Design and Best Visual Effects awards. The pair began by mentioning Weaver’s many on-screen appearances with aliens — before she suddenly blew a kiss into the audience aimed at her forthcoming co-star.

“You’ve had experience with a few of those [aliens],” Pascal said, setting up the bit. “A little,” Weaver replied. “The good, the bad… and downright adorable,” she continued, blowing Grogu his kiss — only for the camera to reveal actress Kate Hudson cosying up to him instead in the audience.

“Get away from him you bitch,” Weaver then yells at Hudson, referencing her iconic line from 1986’s Aliens, to which Grogu acts shocked. “Good character recall. I peed myself a little,” Pascal notes. “It’s my soft maternal instinct,” Weaver continued. “Kate, I stand by it.”

Of course, these antics are designed to promote Disney’s upcoming big screen return for the Star Wars franchise, which last featured in theaters back in 2019 with the divisive Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Now, Disney has opted to bring its galaxy far, far away back to audiences via the fan-favorite pairing of its Mandalorian and his young ward, made famous on Disney+.

Grogu also featured in a second moment at last night’s awards, where host Conan O’Brian humorously pointed out that Grogu was physically unable to clap. You can see all of that in the clip above.

Earlier this month, Lucasfilm’s new president and chief creative officer Dave Filoni described The Mandalorian & Grogu as the first movie in a “completely different era of Star Wars”, following the conclusion of Disney’s sequel trilogy. But the future of the Star Wars movie franchise remains unclear, with only Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter also confirmed (it is set to arrive on May 28, 2027).

The Mandalorian & Grogu will launch this year on May 22. Just don’t expect Grogu to be making any speeches — even if the film is nominated for Oscars next year.
