Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games and longtime head writer and creative director of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, will make his first on-camera interview appearance at Los Angeles Comic Con. Houser will have an in-depth conversation with IGN Senior Executive Editor, Ryan McCaffrey, about the legacy and impact of his past games and a look forward to his newer projects in development at Absurd Ventures.
This panel will be called ‘In Conversation with Dan Houser: Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Now American Caper,’ and it will take place on Saturday, September 27, from 12:00pm – 12:30pm PT at the South Hall at L.A. Comic Con. For those who can’t make it, IGN.com will be livestreaming the conversation that will also feature an “exclusive glimpse into American Caper.”
“I am very honored to take the stage at Absurd Ventures’ home town comic convention, Los Angeles Comic-Con, with IGN Executive Editor Ryan McCaffrey,” Dan Houser said. “I look forward to speaking about all our upcoming, varied projects at Absurd including our two open world video games, the American Caper comic book series, which is my new take on crime fiction storytelling making its first appearance this fall, and the upcoming novel of A Better Paradise — as well as indulging in a trip down memory lane speaking about the characters and worlds of GTA, Red Dead, Bully and other games that I had the privilege to write and direct over the years.”
IGN previously exclusively revealed American Caper, which is set to be released on November 12, 2025. The first arc of the series will consist of 12 issues, and you can check out a trailer above.
Houser co-founded Rockstar Games in 1998 alongside his brother, Sam Houser, and he worked at the company until 2020. He founded Absurd Ventures in 2021, and these new IP like American Caper look to exist across video games, television, film, podcasts, books, comic books, and more.
As for L.A. Comic Con, it will take place from September 26 – 28, and Chris DeMoulin, CEO of Comikaze Entertainment, parent company of the convention, had a few words to share about Houser joining this year’s show.
“We are thrilled to have Dan Houser at L.A. Comic Con for his first on-camera interview and to bring this moment to the gaming community of Los Angeles,” DeMoulin said. “It’s a rare opportunity to hear directly from a creator whose work has defined some of the most iconic games of this generation. We’re excited for the gamers and fans who will be able to witness this moment and more at our show.”
