Hellboy: The Crooked Man is skipping a theatrical release and launching straight onto digital platforms in the U.S. on October 8.
As reported by ComicBook, digital platforms are currently offering preorders for Hellboy: The Crooked Man with the October release date, specifically at 9am Pacific / 12noon Eastern. The film lacks any sort of theatrical release date in the U.S, however, made stranger because it hits UK cinemas on September 27.
The third cinematic iteration of Hellboy has had a somewhat odd path to its release. The film was announced in February 2023 but it soon went quiet. Distributor Ketchup Entertainment has since released a handful of materials for the film, and now Hellboy: The Crooked Man will seemingly release without a theatrical premiere in the States either.
Regardless, October is an apt release date given the comic book film’s fusion of action and horror elements. “In the 1950s, Rookie BPRD agent Bobbie Jo Song is tasked with delivering a spider to the BPRD, but must seek Hellboy’s help when things go awry,” the official synopsis reads.
“Together, they travel to Appalachia to take on the Crooked Man, who has been sent back to Earth to collect souls for the devil.”
