Yeti coolers are among the rare products that are both practical and a bit of a status symbol (depending on what kind of crowds you run in, at least). The Austin-based brand makes excellent, if not overbuilt, coolers that set a new standard for the category when they first hit shelves. Lots of other rotomolded coolers are now available, many with similar quality and lower prices, but there’s just something about a Yeti. People have a nostalgic fondness for the brand, born of memorable outdoor adventures and long nights by the fire. It’s one of those brand names you start using casually in conversation. Toss it in the Yeti! Can you grab me another cold one from the Yeti? How is the ice holding up in the Yeti? Now, several top Yeti Tundra coolers are on sale just in time for summer holidays and outdoor outings.
The Tundra 45 is a classic do-it-all cooler that’s small enough to fit in the back of most cars but big enough to last a long weekend (so long as you stock it with plenty of ice). There are several colorways on sale on Amazon, including an understatedly patriotic red with navy blue accents. This cooler is bear-resistant and will hold a 24-pack of suds with a little room to spare. It weighs 23 pounds empty, so one person should be able to carry it when it’s loaded down, though perhaps not very far.

Hopper M15 Portable Soft Cooler
If you want a cooler built for carrying, check out the Hopper. Yeti’s soft-sided cooler is not currently on sale on Amazon, where you’ll see it selling for $300. However, it’s $199 at Ace Hardware, and depending on where you live, there’s a fair chance you can buy it online and pick it up later today. This bag is made for carrying to beaches or Shakespeare in the Park or quick-format events—not for keeping ice frozen for long stretches in the backcountry.

Roadie 15 Hard Cooler
As the name implies, this is your classic road-trip cooler. The Roadie 15 fits between two people in the back seat of a car (depending on the people, of course—two of me plus this cooler would be pretty tight in most cars). It holds a 12-pack with plenty of ice and flips open with ease so you can grab another soda without really needing to look. There’s also room to squeeze in a few candy bars you don’t want melting on the front seat. The Roadie is rarely this cheap, and the yellow version looks great to me.
