She played what’s considered one of the most iconic characters in the Game of Thrones universe, but it wasn’t exactly an easy start for Milly Alcock. The Australian actress, who plays the young version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the spinoff series House of the Dragon, recently revealed that someone in a position of power told her she would have to participate in acting coaching following her second day on set.

“On my second day on House of the Dragon, one of the, I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up, pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach,’” Alcock explained during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show where she added she was “mortified.”

The Critics Choice award nominee also joked about how the incident quickly humbled her. “It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job,” she said in jest. “You know what I mean! I was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.’”

Alcock, who is set to play Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in this summer’s Superman movie as well as next year’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, played King Viserys I Targaryen’s daughter and heir as a series regular in Season 1 and was a guest star on Season 2 of the show, which follows the fall of the House Targaryen. Emma D’Arcy plays the adult version of the Princess, who later becomes Queen.

The show premiered in August 2022, just over three years after the original Game of Thrones series aired its final episode. House of the Dragon was renewed for a second season just days after it premiered, and ended up snagging a Season 3 renewal in June 2024 before Season 2 even started. It even went on to win the Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama.

As for Season 3 of the series, while it’s definitely still on, we have yet to receive an official release date.
