Lego has announced a range of A Minecraft Movie sets coming out ahead of the Jack Black led live action film, which give insight into which mobs fans can expect to see.
As reported by Games Radar, the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack are the two sets announced so far. These will join the already available range of regular Minecraft sets but include figures for the likes of Black’s Steve and Jason Momoa’s The Garbage Man.
The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring suggests a gladiator style battle scene will take place in the film, as this $49.99 and 491 piece set show’s Mamoa’s character fighting a zombie riding a giant chicken. It’s unclear if this is to scale, or if this is meant to represent a baby zombie on a regular size chicken, but it’s about twice as tall as The Garbage Man altogether.
The set also includes Steve, his pal Henry, and a giant zombie pigman alongside the fighting ring, a chest with gold, and a small viewing stand with weapons attached.
The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set shows the Nether’s marshmallow-esque villain will make an appearance in the film too, and seems to depict a large battle scene in a regular overworld village. One village minifigure is included alongside two piglin, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.
This one retails for $69.99 and comes with 555 pieces. Both sets are available on March 1, a month before A Minecraft Movie hits theaters on April 4.
The film was revealed proper in September to immediate criticism from fans, who called out a disparity between the live action characters and the green screen generated animated world. One fan even remade the trailer in a fully animated style.
The director and producer said they were well aware of this reaction when speaking to IGN in November, but promised they “were ready for everything.”
