A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedrunner beat the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the critically-acclaimed RPG at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, which capped playtime at just 10 minutes.

As spotted by VGC, Japanese content creator Ikaboze used an existing save file without knowing what equipment Link had to hand. After deciding to “defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed,” the content creator fired up a save that took him to the final boss fight with Ganon. Seven minutes later, Ganon had been defeated, and onlookers broke out in spontaneous applause.

It was a particularly impressive feat given Ikaboze was using an unfamiliar controller and couldn’t even hear the game due to the noise of the convention hall.

“I was surprised by how many people had gathered,” he said. “Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me.”

Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild comes with improved visuals and performance, achievements, as well as support for the new “Zelda Notes” service in the Nintendo Switch Online app. If you already own Breath of the Wild on the Switch, you won’t get those features automatically, but you can purchase an “upgrade pack” for $10 to get access. Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are also available for no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.

Here’s how much Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games cost in the U.S. for those not upgrading:

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders went live on April 24, with the price still fixed at $449.99 — and they went about as well as you’d expect. Meanwhile, Nintendo has just issued a warning to U.S. customers who applied for a Switch 2 pre-order from the My Nintendo Store, saying release date delivery was not guaranteed due to very high demand.
