Nvidia’s Price Increases Are Live, as RTX 5060 Ti Jumps to Over $800

Nvidia’s Price Increases Are Live, as RTX 5060 Ti Jumps to Over 0

Just a couple weeks ago, I wrote about how Nvidia price increases were on the way. It seems like they’re here, and they’re not pretty. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, once a solid mid-range card, now costs more than the 5070 Ti’s MSRP.

According to Tom’s Hardware, which has collected retailer data for all of Nvidia’s graphics cards, the median prices for pretty much every Team Green GPU is more expensive now than they were a couple months ago. And while top-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090 and 5080 have gone up in price, the biggest jumps were surprisingly in the mid-range.

The median price for the RTX 5070 has gone up to $899, up 36% over its June median price of $659. The RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB is now up to $804.99, which is up 39% over its $569 June price. Those numbers look bad enough on their own, but it’s important to note that the RTX 5070’s original MSRP was $499, and the RTX 5060 Ti was supposed to be $429, which means the GPUs are now 57% and 61% more expensive than their supposed launch prices, respectively.

Just from a casual look on Newegg, the prices seem pretty dire. The cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16GB on the first page of results will set you back $779, for a pretty basic MSI Shadow variant. However, there is one or two hangers-on for the RTX 5070, where there’s a single low-profile version of the GPU on Newegg for $749. But I feel like the price of that PNY card will probably go up in the very near future.

This is hardly the first time graphics card prices have gone up in the last few years. It seems like every generation of GPUs has some point where demand is driven through the roof. But, because this comes as yet another step in an ongoing component crisis, I’m not sure when these prices are going to let up – if they let up soon at all.

And, unlike previous GPU price jumps in the past, which were usually isolated at the hands of cryptocurrency, hardware from across the entire industry is going up in price right now. Back in June, the Steam Machine launched at a super-high price, and the Xbox Series X and PS5 have had price increases of their own. This is all due to the increased memory demand from AI, and now that all three memory manufacturers have reportedly sold through their 2027 manufacturing capacity, it doesn’t seem like prices are going to ease up any time soon.
