During Netflix’s Geeked Week live event, the streaming platform revealed an “inside look” at One Piece Season 2 and, at first glance, it was just a mere behind-the-scenes clip of a table read. But watch until the end, and you’ll get something fans have been clamoring for: a first look at Tony Tony Chopper.
You can watch the first look below.

There’s not a ton we can glean from this, but it looks like they’re taking an approach similar to the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies. We can just see Chopper’s furry hat and antlers, and it could be something of a live-action/CGI mix (but mostly CGI).
The inclusion of Tony Tony Chopper, a shape-shifting human/reindeer hybrid who also serves as the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor, has been one of the most anticipated parts of One Piece Season 2. Fans even tried to theorize what he might look like in the upcoming episodes, to some frankly disturbing results.
It was confirmed that Chopper would be in Season 2 when Netflix officially renewed the anime adaptation for a second season. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda teased that the group would “need a great doctor” in their upcoming adventures, showing off a sketch of Chopper himself.
The first look at Chopper is only the latest in a flood of One Piece news that’s been coming in recent days. Earlier on Thursday, Netflix (seemingly on accident) revealed that Lera Abova will play Miss All Sunday, otherwise known as Nico Robin, while Joe Manganiello will play Mr 0, otherwise known as Crocodile.
IGN gave One Piece Season 1 6/10 in our review, calling it “an entertaining adaptation that’s hindered by a desire to recreate every major event found in its source material.
