Pre-Release Version of Death Stranding 2 on PC Leaks Online, Seemingly via Steam

The PC version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has reportedly leaked online. It appears that an unencrypted version of the game was briefly available when Steam open up to pre-loading ahead of tomorrow’s (March 19) PC launch.

While it’s not clear how long the unencrypted files were available, they were apparently there long enough for players to grab the 113GB game, circumvent Steam’s DRM, and upload the full game to piracy sites. According to PC Gamer, the pirated copy does not bundle all language packs, so some, including Russian, are reportedly missing.

As you may well expect, anyone caught disseminating the pirated game is at risk of sanctions, and anyone playing it will not be able to access any of Death Stranding 2’s considerable online experience.

Yesterday, IGN reported that the upcoming update will include a new hard difficulty mode, called To The Wilder, replayable boss fights (including Neil), new items, and live-action cutscenes. There’ll also be 21:9 ultrawide mode for PS5 as well as PC, various “gameplay adjustments” implemented following player feedback, plus new nightmares for Sam, and a new Chiral Cat for his room. The new PC version will also include options for an uncapped framerate, plus Ultrawide monitor support and 32:9 Super UltraWidescreen for PC, all in 4K resolution.

“Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a triumphant sequel that emphatically delivers on the promise of its original,” we wrote in our Death Stranding 2 review. IGN awarded the game an ‘Amazing’ 9/10.
