[UPDATE: Services are being restored, with all affected categories now saying they are up and running. If you are alerted to a PSN down message or are still having trouble accessing games and other content, it is recommended you restart your console]

Around 9:30 am CT on July 1, many PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users began to report issues concerning PSN going down. This issue has only worsened since then, and as of this writing, PSN is still currently down. It is currently unknown how widespread this outage is and how long it will last, but PlayStation is currently looking into the issues.

According to PlayStation’s PSN Service Status page, account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store are down across PS4 and PS5 consoles. It’s possible that many gamers are not affected by this outage, while others may simply struggle to access these features, and no doubt thousands of users are being outright denied access to these services.

That said, Sony has responded quickly and is actively looking into this outage. Most PSN outages are short, lasting a few hours at most, and fans can expect services to be restored soon. This article will be updated when that is the case. For now, Sony has a short statement for those impacted: “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
