Santander has launched Navigator Global, an international growth platform designed to help businesses expand into global markets.

The platform aims to provide businesses with the tools to simplify decision-making, reduce costs, and find verified support at different stages of their export journey.

The digital-first, human-led platform connects businesses with a global network of over 250 verified suppliers, local experts, and real-time insights with the aim of providing them with the knowledge they need to act quickly whilst reducing the risks associated with global trade as they exporte or expand into a new market.

Operating on a subscription model, offering a standard and premium option, the platform is currently available in the UK and will launch in the US later this week.

Santander added the technology will be extended to all markets by the end of 2026.

Through the platform, companies can select their desired market to create a tailored action plan, while they receive real-time information and opportunities from global experts.

The platform also includes a schedule of webinars and events to provide further insight into key sectors and trade corridors.

Additionally, businesses will be shown global services, such as financial solutions, at key moments in their commercial journey.

The bank said it offered a similar platform for UK customers between 2021 and 2025, which supported over 2,500 companies in their international growth journey.

The new version is a revamped version that will be available in over 40 markets.

Navigator Global will also be offered in countries where Santander does not have a banking presence, where a partner bank will be used instead, the bank said.

The move comes as research conducted by the bank shows that 62 per cent of companies believe a lack of clarity on local regulations and compliance hinders their entry into new markets.

The costs of failure and poor visibility of partners were also reported as major obstacles by more than half of the companies involved in the research.

John Carroll, chief executive officer of Navigator Global, said that the platform brings together everything Santander has learned from years of supporting companies in their international expansion, adding that the platform comes at a time when uncertainty is a key feature in the international trade space.

“We know businesses don’t need just information; they need clarity and confidence about where to go next, who to trust and how to take the next step,” he continued.
