Marvel Studios has confirmed Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen’s return to the MCU in upcoming animated series Marvel Zombies.

Olsen, who voiced Scarlet Witch and, eventually, Zombie Scarlet Witch (The Dead Queen) in Disney+ animated series What If…?, reprises the role for spin-off Marvel Zombies.

In March, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Marvel Zombies was going to be “pretty intense,” and would likely necessitate a TV-MA rating. D23 2024 attendees then got an exclusive look at the four-episode show that revealed a moment where Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings characters Shang-Chi, Katy Chen, and Xu Wenwu find themselves overrun by a horde of zombies. A time jump then sends the story five years into the future, revealing a Mad Max-like world that was unable to survive the apocalypse.

Here’s the full Marvel Zombies voice cast:

  • Awkwafina (Katy Chen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings)
  • David Harbour (Red Guardian in Black Widow)
  • Simu Liu (Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings)
  • Elizabeth Olsen (Zombie Scarlet Witch)
  • Randall Park (Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp)
  • Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova in Black Widow)
  • Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop/Hawkeye in Hawkeye and The Marvels)
  • Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams/Ironheart in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)
  • Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels)
  • Todd Williams (Blade)

Fans have wondered whether Scarlet Witch would return to the MCU in live-action form ever since the character appeared to meet an untimely end in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the question resurfaced after Scarlet Witch failed to make a dramatic return in Disney+ show Agatha All Along, much to the disappointment of fans.

We shouldn’t be surprised at that, really, after Olsen recently confirmed she’d be up for playing Scarlet Witch once again, “if there’s a good way to use her.” So, has Feige worked out a good way to use her?

Feige recently gave fans a tease that got Scarlet Witch fans excited. “We had Agatha Forever on Disney+ just now, and that series was great for us,” he said. “Since then, there have been a lot of questions about Wanda on fans’ minds… So all I can say is that we’re excited to find out when and how the Scarlet Witch might return.”

Marvel Zombies hits Disney+ on October 3, 2025. What If…? Season 3 comes out December 22, 2024.
