South Park Off Air Again Tomorrow, as Report Explains Why Weekly Release Schedule is Currently Off the Table

South Park will once again skip airing a new episode this week, as a report has suggested the show’s recent bi-weekly release schedule will remain in place for the rest of the season.

The latest run of South Park episodes, which are currently airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+, have drawn some of the series’ best-ever ratings, as well as global attention, for their no-holds-barred depiction of President Donald Trump.

But the series has also notably taken longer to produce, with just three episodes arriving in the six weeks since Season 27’s debut, and its fourth episode now expected next week, on September 3.

Now, Deadline reports that South Park will continue to release episodes every other week for the remainder of the season, with its 10 episodes set to wrap up after 20 weeks, around December 10.

Why the change? As you might expect, the elongated production time for each episode allows South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker more time to work on each episode.

“No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it,” an unnamed production source told the outlet.

This production schedule is also positive for Paramount, the report continues, with the network enjoying South Park being part of the conversation for twice the amount of time than it would have been had episodes been pumped out every week.

South Park kicked off Season 27 with a memorable episode that featured Trump extensively — literally, in fact, as viewers got to see more of the president than anyone was expecting. The White House swiftly responded, stating that “just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

“This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,” Trump White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Rolling Stone. “President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

The season’s second episode, Got a Nut, introduced Vice President JD Vance and also featured a gun-toting, pet-killing intepretation of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Last week’s third episode, Sickofancy, once again featured Trump, who gained ownership of Towelie, the genetically-engineered talking towel, for reasons we do not need to go into here.

What might South Park be up to for its next episode? We’ll just have to wait another week to find out.
