Expect Squid Game Season 3 during the summer or fall of 2025, the show’s creator has said.
In an interview with Variety, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk said Netflix will announce the Season 3 release date soon after the recent release of Season 2: “I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year.”
Fans are already theorizing that a summer release for Squid Game Season 3 suggests a Halloween release for the hotly anticipated Stranger Things Season 5. Currently, like Squid Game Season 3, Stranger Things Season 5 has a vague 2025 release window.
Anticipation for Squid Game Season 3 is extremely high after Season 2 broke Netflix viewership records. It opened with an incredible 68 million views, making Squid Game Season 2 Netflix’s biggest TV debut ever ahead of Wednesday’s 50.1 million views in 2022. That’s across the first four days of availability, so Season 2 will no-doubt be well on its way to becoming one of the most popular seasons of TV ever on Netflix across the first 91 days of viewership, perhaps even overtaking Season 1.
Squid Game Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger that sets up Season 3. Be sure to check out our Squid Game Season 2 review to find out what we think of the show. Fans are also waiting for official confirmation on the number of episodes in Season 3, after Season 2’s brisk seven episodes were all released on December 26, 2024.
