It’s official. The Last of Us Part 2 is coming to PC on April 3, 2025, as we learned via a trailer at The Game Awards 2024.
Yup, that’s The Last of Us Part 2! It joins a growing tradition of Sony releasing its first-party exclusives on PC several years after their launch, which includes Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, and God of War (2018).
Earlier this year, reliable leaker Billbil-kun suggested that The Last of Us Part 2 would be the next PlayStation exclusive to join them, and even that development on it was wrapped up. However, it was speculated that its release had been held back to coincide with the 2025 release of season to of HBO’s The Last of Us show…which seems to have been an accurate call as well, given the timing.
In a blog post following the announcement, Naughty Dog added some details about the PC release. It follows the dedicated PS5 release of The Last of Us Part 2 earlier this year in including new modes and all other new features added in that version. It will be available on both the Steam and Epic Games Store at launch.
The Last of Us Parts 1 and 2 have been released and re-released in a number of different forms over the years. But Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann said earlier this year that they would “not be The Last of Us studio forever” and that the studio was working on “multiple” single-player projects.
We gave The Last of Us Part 2 a coveted 10/10 upon its release, saying that while it was “a thrilling adventure, it still makes time for a stunning, nuanced exploration of the strength and fragility of the human spirit.”
