The Office Star Craig Robinson Makes Shock Announcement That He’s Quitting Comedy for ‘Something Huge’

Say it ain’t so — or that it’s just a prank, because honestly? It might be. The Office alum Craig Robinson, who has been a mainstay in the comedy scene for years, has revealed he’s embarking on a major milestone: quitting comedy in favor of “something huge.”

“Life update: I’m officially quitting comedy to focus on my true calling,” Robinson explained via the caption on an Instagram video post made last week. “Stay tuned. I’m working on something huge.”

His selfie video gave slightly more context, but mostly left fans in the dark about what’s next. “Hey, everybody! Just wanted you to hear it from me: I am quitting comedy,” the actor explained in the clip. “But not for nothing. It’s been an amazing run, and y’all have been amazing and wonderful, but I’m following something bigger. So, thank you so much, I love you and stay tuned.”

In the comments on the post, fans shared a mix of shock, sadness, and a whole hell of a lot of disbelief — and to be fair, a comic like Robinson is probably right to be questioned here. After all, this definitely could be a joke in and of itself, or even promotion for something.

That said, the actor did make a follow-up post which hinted at starting a small business. “Turns out having a dream and building a business with your friends are two VERY different things,” he captioned the post. “I can’t go into detail just yet, but for real though any help would be huge.”

But ultimately, when it comes to what this actually means, we simply don’t know yet. Color us curious, though.

Robinson is most famous for playing warehouse foreman Darryl Philbin across 118 episodes of The Office, but he’s also well-known for roles in Mr. Robot, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Bad Guys.
