The Paper Trailer Returns to The Office Universe With First Look at the Toledo Truth Teller

Peacock has released a trailer for its The Office spinoff, The Paper, revealing a first look at footage of the ragtag group behind the Toledo Truth Teller ahead of its September release date.

The nearly two-minute trailer sets the stage for the failing Midwestern newspaper with a tone that should feel familiar to fans of The Office. However, where The Office focused on a documentary crew and their coverage of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton, Pennsylvania branch, The Paper puts a lens up to the Toledo Truth Teller and the dedicated (and no doubt messy) crew that wants to save it.

The Paper trailer (which you can watch here) sees Domhnall Gleeson’s (Ex Machina) Ned Sampson stepping in as the newspaper’s new editor-in-chief as he meets the staff, with the lineup including characters played by Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), Melvin Gregg (The Way Back), and more. Alongside a sneak peek at what is sure to be a waterfall of jokes centered around the lives of journalists in The Office universe is also a first look at Oscar Nuñez’s returning character, Oscar Martinez, who seems to have gotten a new job.

It looks like The Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Nathan For You’s Michael Koman want Dunder Mifflin regulars to feel at home with The Paper and the Toledo Truth Teller. After years of rumors and quotes from the original cast saying they’d love to see a reboot, a spinoff for The Office universe finally gained some momentum when Gleeson and Impacciatore signed on for a new spinoff show last summer. It finally moved forward as an official project just days later when Peacock announced it would serve as the streaming home for Daniels and Koman’s series.

The Paper will premiere its first four episodes on Peacock on September 4, 2025. Two episodes will follow every Thursday until the finale arrives September 25. For more while we wait, you can read up on why Steve Carell doesn’t have plans to return as Michael Scott anytime soon.
