Peacock has lifted the lid on Twisted Metal Season 2, releasing a teaser trailer, confirming new details, and setting a summer 2025 release date.
Twisted Metal is the Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz-starring TV show based on the cult classic PlayStation series. It earned a spot among Peacock’s top original series after Season 1 scored the streamer’s “most-binged” comedy premiere back in 2023.
IGN’s review of the Twisted Metal TV series gave it a solid 8/10 score, praising the show for using the games’ crude humour as a springboard to create “its own dark and warped wasteland sensibilities” and ultimately deliver “a miraculously enjoyable blend of comedy, violence, and thoughtfulness” across the ten episodes.

Season 2 is now looming over the horizon. Here’s the official blurb:
Following the revelations in the Season 1 finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.
In March last year, Sony reportedly canceled an unannounced Twisted Metal live-service game as part of mass layoffs.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said the game was in early development at UK studio Firesprite, which Sony had earlier confirmed was affected by the job cuts. According to Schreier, the Twisted Metal game “wasn’t yet greenlit.”
Twisted Metal is a vehicle combat video game franchise that began life on the PS1 but hasn’t seen a new entry since the PlayStation 3 generation.
