Varner rolls out new POS devices across stores

Scandinavian fashion group Varner has rolled out new Point-of-Sale (POS) devices across its stores.

The retailer owns a number of brands, including Dressmann, Bik Bok, Carlings, Junkyard, Cubus and Volt, as well as running 50 Levi’s stores in the Nordics.

The move comes as the business pledges to become the region’s leading data and tech-driven fashion company by driving innovation that enhances customer experience.

The company currently operates more than 1,100 stores, employing 8,500 people across the region.

The new POS for android devices, developed by Zebra Technologies, enables staff to move freely instead of being tied to fixed tills.

The handheld devices allow shop floor staff to check stock, complete purchases, or help with Click & Collect orders.

The devices also give staff real-time product and customer data, including previous purchases and loyalty membership details, meaning that they can provide personalised offers to shoppers in store.

Following the rollout, 93 per cent of the company’s shop floor workforce have said they are confident completing mobile payments anywhere in the store.

Over two-thirds are now frequently using the technology to check product information, with a further 32 per cent using it to look up customer memberships.

“The positive feedback from our stores has been incredibly encouraging,” said Henning Fladland, product manager, Varner. “Our staff adapted to the mobile POS quickly, which was crucial as the rollout occurred during a peak period.”
