WW1: Gallipoli Announced as Next Game in Realistic World War 1 Multiplayer FPS Series

BlackMill Games has announced Gallipoli, the next game in the long-running realistic multiplayer WW1 game series that includes Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo. WW1: Gallipoli takes place in the Middle Eastern Front theater of World War I, and you’ll play as either Ottoman forces or the British Empire. It’s in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Gallipoli aims to provide accurate maps, weapons, music, and uniforms along with squad-based, class-based gameplay that supports full cross-play. Also, AI bots will fill in for any uneven teams in public matches, and optionally in custom matches. Check out the first trailer above and the first screenshots in the gallery below.

“With Gallipoli, we’re highlighting a front that’s often overlooked, despite its importance,” BlackMill Games founder Jos Hoebe told IGN. “Others have explored it before, but this game lets us go deeper, offering a more accurate and complete portrayal in line with the rest of the WW1 Game Series.”

The realistic tactical gameplay is described as players being able to “battle from the beaches, clash through ruined cities and sandstorms, or engage in desert warfare to hold and reclaim strategic ground,” while settings will span “from the windswept beaches of the Dardanelles to the scorching deserts of Lower Mesopotamia.” Wishlist Gallipoli on Steam if you’re interested.

Ryan McCaffrey is IGN’s executive editor of previews and host of both IGN’s weekly Xbox show, Podcast Unlocked, as well as our monthly(-ish) interview show, IGN Unfiltered. He’s a North Jersey guy, so it’s “Taylor ham,” not “pork roll.” Debate it with him on Twitter at @DMC_Ryan.
