Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Shows Off No-HUD Option

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, will give players the option to completely disable the HUD at will. Ubisoft has revealed in a new gameplay clip that players will be able to turn off the HUD at the press of a button without opening any menus. It’s extremely seamless and allows players the chance to fully immerse themselves in the world.

The option is being welcomed as a great addition, as Ubisoft can sometimes clutter the screen with a lot of icons like health bars, weapon/throwables, the map, and more.

This gives players the chance to remove all of that and simply embrace the grand, beautiful open world that Ubisoft is creating. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remains one of the most beloved games in the franchise, partially due to its world. You can explore the seas by ship and venture off to varied and exotic locations, allowing for one of the more unique settings of any game in the franchise. However, you can absolutely lose sight of that if you’re drowning in HUD icons.

This is just one of many small but meaningful quality-of-life improvements in Black Flag Resynced. You’ll also be able to adjust Edward Kenway’s hood whenever you’d like, as opposed to the original game, where the hood was put up or down based on specific circumstances. Ubisoft seems to be leaning into a more immersive experience with this new game, something that fans seem to find very appealing based on the replies to Ubisoft’s post.

Games have been trying to find the right balance when it comes to the HUD for a while. It’s one of the most important pieces to a game, but some players don’t require it or want it. Some games, like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, choose to only activate the HUD while in combat, and then it fades away when you’re just exploring. Other games like Red Dead Redemption 2 give players more control, allowing you to have the full HUD at all times, no HUD, or a more minimalist option that only shows you the absolute essentials.

Black Flag Resynced will give players plenty of control over how they want the HUD to appear, which is a major win for fans. It remains to be seen how the full version of Black Flag Resynced will be received but, so far, it appears to be winning over a lot of people with its many changes and improvements. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be released on July 9th for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
