Bethesda Responds to Starfield PS5 Crashing Issues

Bethesda says it is “aware” of the crashing issues some people are reporting when playing Starfield on PS5 and will address them in a hotfix later this week.

Within days of Microsoft launching Starfield on rival console PS5, players began reporting progression-breaking problems on both the base and PS5 Pro models, including freezes, crashes, and save issues. Despite trying a myriad of workarounds, including disabling auto-save, some players have even deemed the highly anticipated port “unplayable” and demanded refunds from Sony.

Now, acknowledging the issues on social media, Bethesda Game Studios has responded to unhappy players, writing: “Thanks for sharing your adventures across the Settled Systems this weekend — we’ve loved reading them!

“We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes. We’re addressing these in a hotfix we’re aiming to release this week. Thanks for flagging, and we’ll keep you posted.”

No date was provided for when the fix will go live, nor did the post identify what could be causing the issues, but it’ll be good news nonetheless for frustrated fans who struggled to explore the stars over launch weekend.
