In what is easily one of the most exciting comic book-related announcements to come out of NYCC 2026, IGN can exclusively reveal that Paper Girls creators Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang are reuniting for a new project at Image Comics. That series is called Roam, and it’s their first collaboration in over a decade.

The creative team on Roam also includes colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Jared Fletcher. Here’s the official description for Roam:

In the future, everyone gets to be a superhero… but only while you’re young.

From the Eisner Award-winning team behind Paper Girls, ROAM reunites Saga writer Brian K. Vaughan and Catwoman: Lonely City creator Cliff Chiang for their first new ONGOING SERIES in over a decade.

Exploring the power and peril that comes with new adulthood, ROAM is a timeless adventure about the quest we each take in life to finally find our team.

The action-packed 50-page (!!!) first issue arrives in comic stores this February 2027!

“Cliff has already drawn the first several issues of ROAM, and I can’t wait for readers to see this breathtakingly original world he and our gifted collaborators Matt and Jared helped create,” Vaughan tells IGN. “Thanks so much to the readers and retailers out here who are up for exploring something new with us!”

“There’s no bigger thrill than breathing life into new worlds with your friends, that electric feeling of collaboration,” Chiang says. “ROAM is unlike anything Brian and I have done before, but inspired by our love for comics as a medium. It’s been a joy to reunite with our trusted teammates Matt Wilson and Jared Fletcher, and I’m incredibly grateful to Image Comics for continuing the creative partnership and exploration that began with Paper Girls. It’s going to be a wild ride!”

Roam #1 will be released in February 2027, and it’s already shaping up to be one of our most anticipated new comics of the eyar. You can preorder a copy at your local comic shop.
