Singer, songwriter, and actress Chloe Bailey is throwing her hat in the ring for the chance at playing Storm in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie.
Casting for Jake Schreier’s X-Men film is currently underway, with Samara Weaving and Kit Connor most recently confirmed as Emma Frost and Scott Summers, respectively.
All eyes are turned toward D23 for further news after San Diego Comic Con’s Hall H panel revealed nary a shred of X-Men information, leaving the door wide open for speculation as to who’s getting what role.
Enter Chloe Bailey. Best known for her musical career, she’s acted in several major films and TV series over the years, and is now eyeing a spot in Marvel’s ever-growing pantheon of stars. On August 7, the ‘Have Mercy’ singer responded to a fan on X who wrote, “Chloe Bailey as Storm would send me into the astral plane.”
“Same,” she said in a quote-retweet.
“If you play Storm, the MCU would be saved,” another fan replied, prompting Bailey to post a series of photos that showed her wearing a long, white wig and a chain mail ensemble. “A girl can dream,” she captioned the pictures, along with a storm cloud emoji.

Bailey’s response to these fan-castings have left Marvel movie-lovers equal parts ecstatic and distressed. While some feel the star is a perfect fit to bring Ororo to life, others just can’t see her pulling off arguably one of the biggest roles in the MCU… especially now that Jayme Lawson has been rumored to get the part.
While this is mere speculation on social media’s end, the chatter has grown so loud that it’s become impossible to ignore. And while there are no confirmed reports of her involvement in the movie — or of Storm being in the film, at all — that isn’t stopping the internet from doing what it does best.
Laweson isn’t the only one rumored to play a part in the movie. According to insiders, Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus, Wake Up Dead Man) is being eyed for Rogue, another choice that has social media in a chokehold thanks to her being raised in Tennessee and Missouri.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see who actually ends up taking these coveted spots, but given that D23 is mere days away with casting information supposedly being revealed, it’s looking more and more likely that Schreier’s X-Men movie has its stars locked in.
