To celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary, Disney will re-release Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige in theaters on January 29, 2027. The thriller will be released on 70mm and IMAX for the first time, and will also be presented in 35mm and Digital 2D formats.
“I’m very excited to bring ‘The Prestige’ back to the big screen, and particularly thrilled to offer audiences the chance to see it on 70mm film, and on IMAX for the first time,” Nolan said in a statement.
The studio’s announcement was made 20 years to the day that The Prestige was released (October 20, 2006).

The Prestige stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Scarlett Johansson in a suspense tale about rival illusionists obsessed with becoming the greatest magician of all time, no matter what it costs them.
Nolan and his brother Jonathan Nolan (Fallout) penned the screenplay adaptation of Christopher Priest’s novel.
Produced by Emma Thomas, Aaron Ryder, and Christopher Nolan, The Prestige was nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction).
The Prestige ranks in third place in IGN’s picks for Christopher Nolan’s best films. In IGN’s The Prestige review, critic Todd Gilchrist awarded the film a 9/10 score, writing:
“Cinematic sleight-of-hand is a tough thing to pull off these days. No matter how secretive or sophisticated a filmmaker’s approach might be, there are always folks savvy (not to mention cynical) enough to figure out what’s happening long before any of their fellow filmgoers. And that is what makes The Prestige the ultimate movie magic trick.”
